If you are in the Penryn or Loomis California area, check out the Griffith Quarry Park Trail & Museum.  It’s pretty interesting.

The museum is at the parking lot, an interesting building made of stone, with a fireplace going in the winter, and helpful volunteers when it is open.

Check the map, along with the interpretive information at the kiosk near the parking lot.  There are several picnic tables in the oak grove right off the parking lot, and off you go through this area to start your hike.

You’ll find that there are several different trails to take, depending on which loop you take.  There is a great view of the valley, a fern grotto, the quarry itself, and just a quiet trail.

It’s an easy hike around the loops.

There are some great photography as well as just jiving with nature areas. It’s a pretty place to elope if you are getting married. It’s very close to Penryn, Loomis, and off of I-80, near the Mandarin Trail in Placer County.
