Let’s face it; we all know wedding planning is not easy. Obviously, right? With this, there are going to be quite a few obstacles you will have to maneuver when making decisions. Want to know what one of the first hurdles you will be facing? Choosing the date you will get married on! Now, for some of you, this may be an easy choice, in which case I say, “that’s awesome, one more thing to check off your list!” Although, for others, this task is not so easy. For this week’s post, we are here to help guide you in choosing your perfect wedding date! Let’s get to it!
Okay, so there are quite a few factors that go into choosing the day that you will marry your best friend. An easy factor can include wanting to get married on an anniversary, like the day you two met or started dating. Another factor can include what season. Are you into the amazing color of leaves and pie pumpkins making an appearance in your decor? A fall wedding is for you then! Or if you are like me, you despise the cold. This was a big factor for me, so I chose to get married in September. Temperature wise, the day was a b-e-a-utiful day in the Sierra Foothills! It wasn’t hot and it wasn’t cold, which means I didn’t have to worry about sweating, or shivering while I was reading my vows. It was also apple season in my area, so I got to enjoy some fresh apple pie from my favorite orchard.
You also may want to consider weather. In Northern California, September is a hit and miss when it comes to rain. In other words, I hoped that it wouldn’t rain on my wedding day. It is more than okay to have your heart set on a certain month to get married, even if it is during the rainy season. The one thing you need to make sure of though if you chose an outdoor venue is to have a rain plan. What are you going to do if it does rain? Even if you aren’t getting married during a time that it rains in your area, this is a great question to have in the back of your mind. The moral to this story is that it is never wrong to have a plan B and a plan C to back up your plan B.
Let’s get a bit more complicated. It’s no secret that weddings are expensive. Although, there is a wedding season. In the past couple of years, it has evolved from the summer months to the fall. As this is a busy time for wedding professionals, prices for some services, like venues, will be higher than they are in the “off-season.” You can also find that services, like venues, may also be cheaper on certain days like Fridays and Sundays. If you’re on a tight budget, factors like these are something you may want to consider. Another thing to remember is that you may want to be open to changing your date. Depending on how popular a venue may be, your date my already be taken. This happened to me, and I happily moved my date a week later because it was the most perfect venue I could have asked for as a bride.
Trust me when I say, your wedding day will be perfect, even if there are minor flaws. You will find your strength as you overcome obstacles such as choosing the perfect day to marry your best friend, while being surrounded by the people you love, and who love you. We are all different. We are all unique in our own beautiful way. In the end we are all AUTHENTIC. ADVENTURE. LIVING.
