Hello wonderful people, and happy new year! My name is Jessa. I am an owner and creative designer here at Sierra and Sky. Like many of you, 2019 is going to bring some great changes for our family run business; and we can’t be more excited! We have a new look, are on all forms of social media, and are working on bringing you wedding services that you have not seen from us yet. So stay tuned and give us a follow on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest so you can stay up to date! Basically, we are here for you; to relieve your wedding planning stress, coach you, be a friend, and answer any questions that may come up during your wedding planning process and daily life. We are based in Shingle Springs, California (near Placerville / Coloma / Lake Tahoe / Sacramento) for our in-person services, and we are available as virtual wedding planners and coaches anywhere you are!
Before I jump into introducing our team individually, let me give you a little insight from a business perspective. Sierra and Sky is all about adventure! We like to travel off the beaten path and learn new ways how to live a healthy lifestyle in our daily lives and within our event and wedding planning. If you are getting married this year, first off congratulations! Secondly, I know exactly what you are going through as I just got married in September of 2018. For this reason, I know how expensive weddings can be; but don’t let that make you anxious! This is exactly what we, as a business, are here for! We know that no one is made of money, so we are here to help you plan the perfect day that is affordable, adventurous, unique, and sustainable. So who the heck are we as people? Well, that’s what this post is all about! Let’s get to know each other!
This is Monique; owner, creative director, officiant, lead wedding planner, and my mom! She has been in the wedding industry for 30 years and counting, creating floral designs, and strategically planning your special day so it runs smoothly. She loves to be adventurous, such as finding locations in the Northern California area that are off the beaten path and challenge the status quo. “Ok, what does that mean, Jessa?” It means that she loves finding high sierra meadows, or downtown murals in the Sacramento area that are great for photo-ops during an elopement. She connects her love for nature by hiking, paddling in her inflatable kayak on the American River through the West’s gold rush territory; finding local art and food, and discovering sustainable natural products that you can enjoy along with her. In all, she is a planner extraordinaire!
This is the ever so amazing, Jay; better known to me as my dad! While he is quite the foody, he is also amazing at logistics, planning, and creativity! Here at Sierra and Sky, he is an owner, and our logistics and operations director, as well as the author of our co-blog Finding Road Food (coming soon!). Entrepreneurship comes naturally to him, as he was raised in the restaurant business, and later opened his own specialty coffee business in Southern California (back in the 1990s before Starbucks came to town!). He helps us plan logistics and seeing challenges that may come about during wedding planning and informing us of a solution to avoid a situation. He is great at keeping up with trends in the industry, and loves getting to know new people, hiking, biking, camping, paddling, and traveling unknown roads with his family, and senior pup, Lady.
Hey, that’s me (and my husband)! Like I said, my name is Jessa; Jay and Monique’s daughter. I am an owner, creative designer, and pro wedding planner here at Sierra and Sky. I grew up under the amazing direction of my parents, giving me the love and passion to be a successful entrepreneur like them. I love to keep on top of what is trending, and challenge the status quo so that I can bring you unique and inventive ideas that will help make your day special. Like my parents, I love to be adventurous by exploring the beautiful red rock country that Southern Utah has to offer with my husband and border collie, Bree. Rafting, kayaking, photography, cinematography, scuba diving, finding local foods and breweries, and flying with my husband are just a few of the hobbies I enjoy!
This is Whitney (and her amazing boyfriend Nathan). She is my best friend, and Sierra and Sky’s social media and brand manager. She loves to keep track of our social media and connect with wonderful people like you! Like the rest of us she loves to be adventurous and spend time in nature with her boyfriend by going on a motorcycle ride to new places, reading new books, and hiking. She loves to be challenged by finding new ways to be creative, and will always bring a smile to your face when you need it the most. She is constantly updating our social media so that we can answer any questions that you have for us, and bring you new and exciting information of our business and the industry. Keep an eye out for her because she will keep you in your toes!
